Meet the Trainer

Annemieke Farrow, CPDT, is proud to be a Certified Pet Dog Trainer. All certified trainers must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics in their dog training practices and must also earn continuing education credits to maintain their designations.

Annemieke is a strong proponent of using positive methods to train dogs, based on her belief that the best part of training is building stronger bonds between humans and their companion animals. For this reason, she regards training as an exercise in relationship-building rather than obedience, and seeks to encourage greater understanding and respect within the human-animal family.

She recently moved to California from New York City, where she was a Behavior Department Intern at the ASPCA and an Apprentice Trainer at Biscuits & Bath.  In May of 2007, Annemieke graduated with honors from the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, an intensive course providing comprehensive and leading edge education to dog trainers, behavior counselors and other companion dog professionals. She is also a member of APDT (the Association of Pet Dog Trainers), an international professional organization devoted to promoting human-canine relationships based on trust and respect.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

--Mahatma Gandhi

Mission: To strengthen and enhance human-animal relationships through greater understanding and mutual respect. To provide high quality, respectful service with compassion, empathy, and a good measure of humor.

Values Statement
We believe strongly in Mahatma Gandhi's statement: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Because how people treat animals directly relates to how they treat other humans, increasing humane treatment of animals may also increase positive and respectful interactions among the two-legged members of our society.
